THE CORRECT LUBRICANTS...
WE KNOW ENOUGH AND CARE ENOUGH TO OFFER WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOUR
FIAT!
IMPORTANT TRANSMISSION SERVICE INFORMATION
Virtually every Fiat and Lancia we see is long overdue for
a change of transmission oil (the factory recommends a change
every 18,000 miles and we recommend a change immediately
after you purchase a used car - no telling how long it's been
in there). PLUS: A majority of those cars are using the wrong
type of lubricant! Thats right, almost every single
owner we talk to has been using conventional hypoid gear oil
in the transmission.
Our transmissions contain no hypoid gears and regular hypoid
gear oil (also labeled EP for extreme pressure)
is actually bad for our transmissions! A quote from the Fiat
Spider Factory Shop Manual says do not use EP (hypoid)
oil". Hypoid oils, with their additives, leave a film on
the synchronizers and actually lubricates these parts too
well, preventing them from functioning correctly! This
typically shows up as minor grinding of gears and difficulty
in shifting, both problems especially evident going into
second gear and in the first few miles of driving with a cold
car. Prolonged use with these problems can lead to big dollar
($$$) repairs later on. Have you ever priced how much it
costs to remove a transmission, much less open it up and do
repairs?
But, have you
ever tried to find the "correct" non-hypoid gear
oil in any auto parts store? It just isn't there! Well, you have just found
it! Red Lines MT-90 is specifically designed for use in
manual transmissions and transaxles. MT-90 provides excellent
protection of gears and synchronizers and allows easier and
smoother shifting. It's all that is used in our own Fiats and Lancias; plus it's the only lubricant used under the grueling
conditions of the race track in both of our race-winning FIAT
X1/9s!
MT-90 is perfect for all front
engine Fiats and
Lancias along with the mid-engine Scorpion and Fiat X1/9.
We've seen it cure balky shifting problems that had gone on
for years! Do your Fiat or Lancia a big favor and pay
attention to the service intervals, change the trans oil and
use the right oil... that's Red Line MT-90.

RED LINE SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL
This 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil is designed to provide the
highest degree of protection and efficiency for differentials. Fiat
recommends that you change the differential oil every 30,000 miles and our
recommendation is to do an oil change just after you purchase a used Spider.
You don't know if it's ever been done before! This is especially important
for the 1979 and later 2000cc cars since the ring and pinions used in these
differentials are a little on the "weak" side... they do have a
tendency to break easily. Everything you can do to prevent the ring and
pinion from wearing and thereby preventing subsequent failure is absolutely
worth it! The ring and pinion for a Spider costs hundreds of dollars for the
parts alone, so a little preventive maintenance could save up BIG $$$ down
the road And what Fiat owner doesn't want to save $$$ !!!
The synthetic base stock components in Redline Gear Oil
provide a naturally high viscosity index, so large amounts of unstable
thickeners are not required in manufacturing. Red Line Gear Oil provides
tremendous thermal stability, the best film strength available and the
ability to cope with high torque, high speed and high shock loads. In
addition, Red Line Gear Oil can provide a significant improvement in power
transfer and fuel economy, while at the same time providing thicker oil
films in the high-temperature contact zone which improves drivetrain
durability.

FUEL SYSTEM MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
The #1 trouble with all fuel injection systems is dirty
and clogged injectors. Though many gasolines advertise
injector cleanliness, a General Motors study to the Society
of Automotive Engineers indicated their customers encountered
injector plugging with all major brands of gasoline. Hard
starting, rough idle, poor mileage and lack of power or
response are all signs of this problem.
Red Line SI-1 Fuel Injector Cleaner contains the most
powerful high-temperature detergents available to clean fuel
injectors. SI-1 can clean injectors to nearly 100% efficiency
with only one treatment! The cleansing of injector deposits
can raise fuel economy 12% or more, depending on the
condition of the injectors. SI-1 also contains detergents and
a synthetic upper cylinder head lubricant which will clean
the intake valves, pollution control valves and combustion
deposits. Also, SI-1 removes water from the fuel thereby
protecting the fuel system components from rust. Though SI-1
is designed for fuel injected cars, it can be used on carburetted
cars with all of the same benefits! The 16 ounce bottle
will treat up to 25 gallons of fuel.

COOLING SYSTEM PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
Red Line WaterWetter® Supercoolant is a unique wetting agent for cooling
systems which can reduce coolant temperatures by as much as 10°F to 30°F. This liquid
product can be used to provide rust and corrosion protection in plain water
for racing engines, which provides much better heat transfer properties than
glycol-based antifreeze. Or it can be added to any new or used antifreeze to
improve the heat transfer of ethylene and propylene glycol systems. Designed
for modern aluminum, cast iron, copper, brass, and bronze systems.

Complexes with hard

Red Line WaterWetter® is designed to provide improved metal wetting and excellent corrosion
inhibition when added to plain water or a glycol coolant. The most poorly maintained system in
an automobile is usually the cooling system. Maintenance is quite simple and only required once
each year, but most vehicle owners never routinely change the coolant or replenish the corrosion
inhibitors which are required for trouble-free operation. Proper cooling system maintenance is
very critical for most modern engines which utilize more aluminum. Aluminum has a very high
corrosion potential, even higher than zinc, which is very widely used as a sacrificial anode.
The only property which enables aluminum to be used in a cooling system is that it will form
protective films under the proper conditions which will prevent the uncontrolled corrosive attack
of acids or bases. Poor aluminum corrosion inhibition will cause the dissolution of aluminum at
the heat rejection surfaces, weakening the cooling system walls and water pump casing and weakening
the head gasket mating surfaces. These corrosion products will then form deposits on the lower
temperature surfaces such as in radiator tubes which have very poor heat transfer properties,
causing a significant reduction in the cooling ability of the entire system. Red Line WaterWetter®
will provide the proper corrosion inhibition for all cooling system metals, including aluminum,
cast iron, steel, copper, brass, and lead.
