CARIBOU'S PERFORMANCE CORNER

Since the Fiat factory stopped producing shocks for the Spiders over a decade ago, the only affordable alternative was the "KYB" brand, Japanese-made shock. We have never been fond of these shocks, since we feel the overall quality level, durability and ride quality was not up to what our Spiders deserved. But there was nothing else to chose from... until now. Caribou has exclusively arranged with Gabriel (a quality name you know and trust) to make a production run of low pressure gas shocks specifically for Fiat Spiders! Made in the USA we are very proud to offer these great shocks at a very affordable price! Available for either the front or rear of your Spider, we know that you'll be very pleased with both the product and our excellent price! P.S. These Gabriels fit the 124 Coupe also!

ANSA Free Flow Exhausts are known the world over for quality workmanship, ease of installation and their dyno-tested performance enhancements due to the reduction of back pressure. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and other manufacturers choose ANSA as original equipment. Doesn’t your Fiat deserve the same quality exhaust?

FA-2567 rear muffler fits all Fiat Spiders from 1968 to the end of production in 1985. The twin chrome tips looks great at the rear of your Spider and the subtle, but deeper, exhaust tone sounds wonderful... especially with the top down! This Free Flow muffler is a great addition to your Spider.

Our exclusive MAX-FLOW catalytic converters are just what you need for increased performance and reduced operating temperatures!

This is the single biggest performance enhancement you can make to your Fiat. Nothing else you do to your engine, carburetion system, fuel injection system or exhaust system will live up to it's full potential if it is still having to try and "blow" thru your old style converter with tens of thousands of miles on it! Utilizing contemporary honeycomb mesh construction (the same type of converter that allows Corvettes and Vipers to approach 400hp) our Max-Flow converter is simply light-years ahead of the old style “pellet-bed” converter (used in the 1970’s and 80’s) that is currently on your Fiat. Even if you’ve bought a new “stock replacement” converter, it’s still got the same old construction as original with all the same drawbacks.

If your converter is worn-out, plugged-up or damaged, simply replace it with our direct-fit, bolt-in Max-Flow converter and see increased performance and lower operating temperatures due to the significantly reduced back-pressure of the honeycomb mesh design. It is generally accepted that you gain 5 to 7hp by removing a converter (we do not approve of this... it is totally illegal and environmentally irresponsible also), so the free flowing design of the Max-Flow converter will also give results in the same range. This is especially helpful for engines that have been modified for increased air flow, as in this case our Max-Flow converter will allow you to extract all the performance potential possible.

These converters are so “free-flowing” that when held up and looked thorough you can see light from the other side! And you’ll still be 100% EPA legal and 100% legal in every state (including California) as our Max-Flow converters meets all E.P.A. and C.A.R.B. specifications.

Our Max-Flow Converters are a direct-fit, easy bolt on installation. They are an exact dimensional "clone" of the original converter that you will remove from your car. No sledgehammers, welding torches or four-letter words are necessary for installation.

What could be better than a performance increase AND still being environmentally responsible? More power for your Fiat and cleaner air for you and your family!

EBC Green Stuff Road/Sport Compound Award-Winning, Kevlar Brake Pads

EBC Greenstuff Road/Sport disc brake pads are designed for sports cars, coupes and sedans used for high performance driving on the road. They are also suitable for sport driving in autocross, Solo II and many “track day” applications. The EBC Greenstuff pads feature a high Kevlar content formulation resulting in ultra high performance pads that are extremely kind to brake rotors.

EBC Greenstuff pads (friction level of 0.46µ) will be more responsive than most standard original brakes (typical friction level of 0.25µ to 0.35µ). Their high resistance to brake fade up to 1000° Fahrenheit make them a superb upgrade for luxury and high performance streetcars used for high speed driving or that encounter repetitive, heavy braking.

As standard brake pads wear, brake dust is released as the friction material carbonizes at temperatures found in everyday braking. EBC Greenstuff brake pads are formulated to run cleaner because they resist carbonizing until over 1000° Fahrenheit, so in normal street driving, dusting is extremely reduced.

Features and Benefits of Greenstuff brake pads

Max Power award logoThe EBC Greenstuff pads have won many awards from United Kingdom magazines. In 1999 they won the UK Autotrade Magazine INNOVATION AWARD for their clean running, high performance features, and were also rated #1 fast road car brakes by UK's largest circulation motorsport magazine, Max Power.

You can use our Kevlar Brake Pads and Slotted Rotors separately from each other, but if used together they will provide an unbeatable braking experience!

EBC Greenstuff - ECE Reg 90 Approved
One of the better legislations to come out of Europe was ECE R-90, which is a brake safety regulation outlawing cheap, non conforming friction materials and improving safety on roads in Europe. The new regulation requires “type testing” of each brand of brakes compared to the original equipment on the exact model of car. It guarantees that products bearing the Reg. 90 standard can be safely purchased by the consumer, being at least equal to the original equipment parts.

Slotted Brake Rotors
sold in pairs (front pair OR rear pair)
It’s a fact that venting the gas emitted by hot brake pads improves overall brake performance and helps minimize fade along with extending brake rotor life. Slotting a rotor, unlike drilling, does not compromise the structural integrity of the rotor. Now our Fiats can have the same brake technology that F1, CART and Indy Cars use to maximize brake performance. Our Super Slot Rotors will help your brakes with a great initial "bite" and will fight brake fade and provide an escape path for the hot gases to escape. These rotors will not disappoint!! Delivered to you with our low pricing, these rotors can not be beat!! Slotted rotors will provide an extremely economical  way for you to significantly improve your braking performance! Sold as a set of two for either front or rear of the car. If you are doing both the front and rears you will need 2 pair.

pair Slotted Brake Rotors for Fiat 124/2000 Spider, X1/9, 131, 128, Lancia Scorpion (fits front or rear) #SS024-2, $89.50

Front "Chin" Spoiler - Did you know all Fiat Spiders from 1979 on came with a front "chin" spoiler? But when was the last time you saw a Spider with one still on it? Besides the distinct "sporty" look the spoiler provides, the factory's addition of the spoiler was for 3 reasons: 1) to provide extra cooling air directed at the front grille, necessary with the larger 2.0 liter engine; 2) extra cooling for cars with air conditioning and/or automatic transmission; and 3) since the ride height of the 2.0 liter cars was increased, the spoiler prevented air from getting under the car at higher speeds benefiting the Spider's handling.

Many owners are unaware a spoiler was on their car originally from the factory or what it's function was. Those that did usually "balked" at the replacement cost! But our Front Chin Spoiler is literally 1/3 of what the "original" spoiler from Fiat was priced at! An exact duplicate of the original, no one will ever tell the difference! Plus: it fits all Spiders from 1968 to 1985 and the 1978 and earlier cars can benefit tremendously from its use. Even at "normal" highway speeds, the additional air directed to the grille opening is a cooling benefit and the same air not being sent underneath the car is a handing benefit.
